Which AI models does WP-Gen work with?
Any current frontier model from Anthropic, OpenAI or Google. The brief WP-Gen generates is deliberately model-neutral: it describes the desired result, not the route to it. You pick the tool that suits you; the stronger the model, the more reliably it gets there on the first attempt.
Can I use WP-Gen today?
The software is finished and runs in production. WP-Gen is not an announced product and not a public beta. The feature set described on this page is what exists today. The only thing that is limited is distribution: we grant access in small numbers and after a personal conversation, so we can support every setup properly. A request is therefore exactly that, a request. We look at it and come back to you with a concrete answer.
Where does the design come from?
From you. From your mockups, your AI design tool, or your usual design process. WP-Gen turns that design into a real WordPress site, and your draft stays the visual foundation. Looking for a starting point? Claude Designer is one way in.
How do my clients edit their content?
Right on the page: click, type, save. Text, images and repeating sections are edited visually, with no AI involved, and without going through you.
What happens to the content in a redesign?
It moves into the new design automatically. Content and design are kept strictly separate in WP-Gen. Edited text and images survive every change, because you use a fresh contract for the redesign.
Who owns the finished site?
You do, or your clients do. It is an ordinary WordPress install on your own hosting, with everything that belongs to it: content, media and the applied design.
What if the licence is paused or I cancel?
Your site keeps running. Everything you set up stays in place and keeps being displayed. From that point you can no longer edit, and you stop receiving security and feature updates. As soon as the licence is active again, updates and new features work as before.
Can I add forms, analytics or a shop?
That is what WP-Gen’s compatibility mode is for. It lets you bring common extensions such as forms, analytics tools and WooCommerce (as an early beta) into the site. Worth noting: because of its complexity, WooCommerce is supported experimentally for now.
Does WP-Gen support a privacy-friendly setup?
WP-Gen provides a solid technical basis for one. Web fonts are embedded locally and the finished site is rendered on your WordPress. WP-Gen itself makes exactly two outbound connections, both server-side from your installation rather than from your visitors’ browsers: the licence and update check against wp-gen.de, and a one-off download of the Google Fonts your design uses when a design is imported. That happens precisely so that they are served from your hosting afterwards and nobody contacts Google on a page view. Whether any further connections occur depends on the plugins, analytics tools and embeds you enable on top.
What does my WordPress installation need?
A current WordPress (6.5 or newer) and PHP 8.1 or newer. That runs WP-Gen on practically any common hosting.
My design does not work. How do I fix it?
Since we only insert content into the templates from the manifest, this is always an issue with the manifest the AI produced. Describe the exact error you see to your AI, give it a current contract, and ask it to fulfil the contract precisely. Use a more capable model if you need better results.
I cannot edit a particular text or image
That is decided by your design and the AI you use. Describe the problem to your AI. The contract leaves models some latitude in what counts as static text, a static image, or an editable element. Claude in particular often needs to be told explicitly to mark images as editable.
Does WP-Gen support blogs?
Yes, we support every page type, blogs explicitly included. For that, your design has to define the role (the page template) for the blog archive and the blog post, so the AI understands it and writes it into the manifest. In the WordPress backend you then set a page as the posts page under “Settings → Reading”.
Does WP-Gen support shortcodes?
Yes, inside what we call rich text elements. Your AI can produce those if you ask it to explicitly. You will see these elements either visually in the editor or in the fallback form; they are not embedded in other text blocks. Do check compatibility mode in the WP-Gen settings, so the plugin providing the shortcode works as well.
